Genz In Web3: See How Maya Did It.

🎶 "concrete jungle where dreams are made of

There's nothin' you can't do

Now you're in New York

These streets will make you feel brand new

Big lights will inspire you"

Oh boy it bustled. This Jay Z and Alicia Keys' masterpiece has become Maya's daily anthem.

Maya, like most dreamers moved from Ohio to New York to fulfill the American dream. You know what they say, "If you can make it in New York, you can make it anywhere" and she was in to make it.

She was deep in to prove her worth.

Maya- a 19 year old talented writer who strived to make it big as a Writer and not just any writer, a valued writer that has a forte in storytelling and simplifying complex things.

She wanted the bag but she had to be recognized. She tried freelancing. Writing gigs about cats and how they had 9 lives… Hell no! She didn't like that. She didn't want that. There was no thrill in that.

As a young and vibrant writer and having spent 2 years in New York she's realized that things are not always as it seems. The writing industry is saturated in the streets of Manhattan. Many big names and to get past freelancing she needed to think bigger and better.

Going to college and studying Journalism and everything related to writing was on her mind but how?? This was a girl whose only relative was her old Aunt- Grace in Ohio. She didn't have any money. She couldn't afford the luxury of an education in America but she needed to be known.

She wanted to be a writer and she was determined. So she started off with her research and found out that there were a whole lot of online free and paid certified and highly recognized courses on Writing. These courses came in their numbers under different platforms. Any skills you wanted to know, you could learn.

She scouted good and very reliable platforms to get started. These platforms included

She was thrilled that one could be recognized as a writer without going through the 4 walls of Yale and Harvard and other universities.

Maya took the Coursera course. A course that had an affiliation with UC Davis. Headed by Sonia Simone- The strategy of content marketing.

She was already an incredible writer, she only needed to market her contents- so she thought.

After completion of her course; Maya knew it was time to be focused and find what she wanted. She didn't want to write about Cats and Dogs fighting or about how to cross a road. She wanted cool cash and was up for it.

She wanted freedom and wasn't going to stop till she found it.

So she decided to find a Niche.

During that time of deep thoughts, her friend Ray came into her apartment since it was her off. He came to share good news with her. He just got offered a job as a Solidity developer for a Web3 gaming project and the pay was a lot of rack. A 19 year old earning $7,000 monthly was huge!

Yeah, Ray was a smart tech guy but damn! That was huge for Anna. She wanted that, not the $7,000 monthly but the fact that it's remote, he still gets to still act like his boss as long as he gets the job done. Payment was easy and not complicated.

So she started asking questions about the Web3 industry and how to get started.

Ray was a good friend. He helped her figure out how to understand the whole Crypto/ Web3 world.

The first thing he said when Maya asked to explain Web3 was that: "Web3 is broad. It can't be learned in a day. It's still a new industry and every day- new words, new projects that bring new terms and trends continue to arise. You just have to stay updated on a daily basis to understand this."

To keep being updated he suggested that she subscribed freely to Cointelegraph and Cryptonary newsletter for all the Teas and trends happening daily in the Web3 world.

But that wasn't what she wanted. Yeah, the latest Web3 info is coming in but she still didn't know a thing about Web3. She keeps hearing things like Blockchain and DAOs and a certain Ethereum - she kept wondering if it was German.

Ray was helpful and a good friend and so he suggested she check out Youtube. To him it was the hub of knowledge and every knowledge there is free. And since she's just starting out he suggested she used it.

He suggested she subscribed to these YouTube creators:

  • Whiteboard crypto– Ray said they used stories and analogies to simplify crypto so even your grandma can understand. Exactly what she intended to do.
  • Coin bureau – Hosted by the fun and charming The guy. She loved how he used the trends to talk.
  • Andreas Antonopoulos: She discovered sir Andreas has been in the game for long and was a very knowledgeable man.
  • Crypto Casey: Maya was sooo Inspired seeing a lady like Casey pouring out wealth of knowledge.

These were her 4 favorite Web3 YouTube creators and within a short period of time she understood a whole lot about Web3. Ethereum even became her best Blockchain.

Now she has the knowledge of Web3 and the certificate of being a good content Marketer. She needed a Niche.

She needed something to be known for to build her brand on and so out of the numerous fields in Web3 that included: NFTs, DeFi, Trading Arbitrage, Job specialization, etc. Maya chose to become the DApp Guru. She chose to talk about the different decentralized applications- DApp and give a review on them.

She built a Twitter page to gain an audience. It wasn't easy but with patience and the right words she was able to build a good audience of 2k in 3 months. She was amazed at her growth.

She knew in all of these she needed a platform to showcase her work. She could do that on Twitter and she did but she was scared; What if her account got suspended one day, where would she start from?

So she built a blog and luckily Ray could do that and he did. But then she realized that if there was no Ray in sight, she could build a free blog with Hashnode. It was so easy to build.

Hashnode offers a free blogging site, a newsletter opportunity, a friendly interface, and an opportunity to add your other sites. It was perfect for anyone who couldn't afford a free domain.

So with her site, Maya was able to drop proof of works. She gave good reviews biweekly on the platform and whenever she got anxiety she remembered good things take time.

She kept networking in the space. In Fact it was the reverse, with 2,000+ twitter following her DM was always flooded so people valued what she did cause she wrote relatable contents.

To get the attention of Projects she intended on working for, she wrote for them. She wrote good content for them and most of them appreciated it. Some even end up giving her a gig or a "thank you" gift.

She wasn't where she wanted but she was grateful she'd evolved.

To increase her audience and get a bigger platform for publishing her work she decided to write for a bigger publishing Web3 platform.

She wrote for:

  • MEXC and easily was she was rewarded as the writer for the month after writing just 9 contents in April.
  • She also published some work under Publish0x and earned some crypto
  • She decided to mint her best review on Uniswap. She posted the writing on Mirror.xyz and some people collected it.

She added all these to her portfolio and experience as a Web3 writer.

It didn't take long and Maya of $20 per article got 3 Web3 gigs as a writer and she was being paid big.

An undisclosed Web3 company offered $3,000/month to her as a ghostwriter.

Another project paid her $1,000/ monthly to post biweekly on their blog.

And lastly, Maya got lots of gigs and was sorted by different DApp to give a review on their project.

With these achievements, Maya became the renowned DApp Queen, fulfilling and even surpassing her initial goal of being recognized as a valued writer.

Through perseverance, self-education, and networking within the Web3 community, Maya transformed her passion for writing into a thriving career in the exciting and ever-evolving world of Web3.

If Maya can, you too can!
